Sunny Summer Wedding
I said it before and I'll say it again: Congratulations Miles and Makenzie!
Miles and Makenzie specifically knew they wanted to get married in the mountains of NC. They also shot their engagement in Western North Carolina. That blog post can be found here! If you’re anything like me then, anything located in the Blue Ridge Mountains is heavenly. In choosing a venue, Makenzie reached out to about 10 venues in Appalachia and as luck would have it the Overlook Barn was the last ones she looked at. She said that once she read about all the space they had available and the VIEW was stunning, she had no other choice but to book it.
Overlook Barn Wedding in Banner Elk, North Carolina
What a great day we had at the Overlook Barn located in Banner Elk. It was stunningly clear, blue sky and lots of sunshine Friday June 18th. The weather was phenomenal with a slight breeze making sure that you didn’t get too overheated! Miles and Makenzie arrived early in the morning to be prepared and ready for their big day. The Overlook Barn has dedicated getting ready areas for the Bride and Groom. They just had to be careful not to see each other before their first look.
When I first saw Makenzie’s wedding dress I was in awe. It has the cutest veil train with accented pearls as well as a completely beaded wedding gown. The bridesmaids wore jewel tones that she intentionally made sure coordinated with the colors from Makenzie’s floral arrangement. It was stunning to say the least.
Timeless & Jewel Toned Wedding
Makenzie described her wedding style intent on looking timeless. She didn’t want to look back in 10-15 years and wonder why they wore what they did or chose certain decor. They wanted a more vintage and whimsical look by incorporating golds and silver accents with colorful flowers. Miles coordinated with his groomsmen when it came to the matching tuxedos and groomsmen in black suits. They all came together nicely don’t you think?
The wedding went off without a hitch and was flawless, partly in thanks to wedding planner Megan Drake at the Elegant Event for planning the amazing day! We were able to work together and coordinate to make sure we got the best photos possible of the couple’s special day.
Newly Added Overlook Barn Addition
The reception was so awesome! Everyone loved the food catered by Gadabouts Catering. The menu consisted of the usual plated dinners. The catch was that there was a macaroni and cheese station. Watch your keyboard, you’re probably drooling right now.
Mackenzie and Miles danced their first dance to Love is Alive by Gary Wright, which was played by DJ Plo Also known as DJ Patrick Lopez. He was amazing at getting the crowd hyped and ready for the bouquet and garter toss.
Honeymooning in California
The lovely couple enjoyed the much loved California for their honeymoon. She also recommends that brides should book their honeymoon flights a few days after the wedding so that they have time to breathe and relax. (I second that 100%). They flew in to LAX and rented a car and did a little bit of road trip North on the Pacific Coast Hwy (Hwy1). They stayed in a range of cities ranging from small to large. Some examples are Santa Barbara and Sanfrancisco along with Morro Bay and Ragged Point. They spent 5 day in Sonoma making a day trip to wineries in the area.
The whole day was amazing. Join me in wishing Makenzie and Miles a happily ever after. Without further adieu, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Saenger!
